My last post was a long time ago. I moved from Switzerland, precisely, from Ticino to London, looking for a more competitive market and I found a really great place, probably one of the most beautiful city in the world with one of the most richest market. My adventure has been difficult, of course, but what I learned here is, without any doubts, priceless.
The project, this project, started more than 1 year ago and I think the idea was good, but the time was not enough and moving abroad did not help. So, what’s the future of the iPhone Developer Group? At the moment I’m not sure about it, what is sure is that after 1 year in London, I’ll be back in Switzerland in few months looking for a new experience, maybe as independent, maybe as Senior developer somewhere. Unfortunately the italian side of Switzerland hasn’t an attractive market, I should definitely pass the Gotthard to have a better market, let’s see, but this post is not about me, but about the group.
My come back will, for sure, help me to improve this website and to (finally) make this group useful and active. At the moment, the iPhone Dev Group doesn’t exist outside the website and the goal is to create something similar to all Swiss JUGs, with a small fee, an active community and, not less important, a registered association with a president, vice-president and secretary. Here in London I found a great community, really active, with valid elements and a structure that works, of course I cannot think to create something similar, only London City have a population that is the double of the Switzerland and a lot of agencies working on mobile and web.
I’m following the updates of Appsterdam.rs as well and, again, the project of Mike Lee is too big to be copied. If you’re not following this project, please do it and support it, it deserves that! So, what’s the conclusion? It’s quite simple: if you can support this project, please do it. I hope one day it’ll be possibile to organize workshops or meetups all around the Swiss territory or even conferences. Support this project will be very simple at the moment: drop me an e-mail and confirm your support to the group, I’ll add a special member page with a list of names and companies currently supporting the project. The address is webmaster [at] iphonedevgroup [dot] ch.
